Heather joined Setting Sun in 2005 and the company has been in growth mode ever since. Her role includes operations, marketing, finance, accounting, team building and strategic planning. Heather was born and raised in California. She moved to Raleigh at age 12 and stayed in town to study mass communications at Meredith College. When introduced to Setting Sun, she fell in love with the artistry and passion for making homeowners’ dreams come true. In her free time, she enjoys Mahjong, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.

Randy Scott founded Setting Sun in 1997 with a pick-up truck, two shovels, two picks and two wheelbarrows. His day-to-day work includes estimating, design and customer relations. While born in upstate New York, Randy was raised in Raleigh, NC and considers himself a true Southerner. He credits his dad for his skills and interest in the hardscape and landscape business. He learned masonry, hardscaping, business skills and work ethic from his dad starting at 7 years old. His first jobs out of college were stonemason and firefighter (he is a retired captain with the Raleigh Fire Department). In his free time, Randy enjoys gardening, landscaping and traveling.

Abbie Miller joined us in August 2023 as a design division manager. Originally from Indian Trail, NC (outside of Charlotte), Abbie graduated from N.C. State with a degree in horticultural science and a concentration in landscape design. Abbie credits her high school horticulture teacher for showing her that she could be outdoors for her job and truly enjoy her work. Day-to-day, Abbie manages the landscape division – everything from the design to the installation. In her free time, Abbie enjoys traveling with her fiancé, working in her vegetable garden and spending time with family.

Crystal joined Setting Sun in 2020. She helps schedule consultations, craft executive communications and spearhead planning. Originally from Durham, NC, Crystal graduated from UNC Wilmington and then headed back to the Triangle. “I love working at Setting Sun because of the great leaders who have created an amazing team,” explains Crystal. In her free time, she loves to play tennis, travel and watch her daughter play golf.

Marty Robinson

Marty Robinson is a project manager who began with us in late 2022. His day-to-day work primarily includes managing deck and screened porch projects plus assisting on some hardscape projects. Marty was born and raised in Upstate New York where he got his start in the construction industry by working summers with a small remodeling company. Post-college, he moved to Raleigh in 1996 and started building custom decks and screened porches. In his free time, Marty enjoys fishing, golf, traveling with his wife and cheering on his baseball-loving sons.
