The primary goal was to create a weatherproof outdoor area for family and guest entertainment. The homeowners initially considered a pavilion but opted for a screened porch to ensure better accessibility and weather protection. Two entry points from the house were added – one from the breakfast area and another from a playroom. The design incorporates a gable-style roof style with open screen panels, maximizing airflow and openness. The double screen doors are unique to PCA, and help with accessibility and convenience. The flooring is made from #1 kiln-dried decking and the ceiling is crafted from tongue and groove pine, providing aesthetic and functional benefits. The metal rail system under 30 inches allowed for the omission of a railing, enhancing the view with 8-foot tall green panels.
A Techo-Bloc Eva paver walkway connects the porch to the garage door, wrapping around the house for seamless integration.
FUNCTIONALITY
River rock lining along the foundation ensures drainage and aesthetic continuity. Stepping stone flagstones link the landing to the lawn, promoting easy movement around the outdoor space.
