Comparison

Fire Pits vs Fireplaces

Fire features have gained in popularity over the last twenty years. It is now very common to see a fire feature in an outdoor living space. We can help you determine whether you would most enjoy a fire pit or fireplace.

Fireplaces are more expensive than fire pits. They usually serve one specific area and often are in a covered space. A fireplace will serve a maximum of about six people sitting directly in front of it.

Fire pits (woodburning or gas) can accommodate more people than a fireplace. The ability to sit on all sides of most fire pits creates a space that can accommodate 10 to 12 people. Gas fire pits are easier to use for shorter periods of time with no startup time needed.
