Designing a Seamless Screen Porch Addition

The Lowery project involved the construction of a screen porch with a focus on integrating it seamlessly with existing house features.

The grill and deck area were connected to the screen porch and a secondary back door was added for ultimate convenience. This deck area was covered using composite materials as it is exposed to the elements. TimberTech Impressions Express railings were used on the exterior grilling deck for zero maintenance. Number one kiln-dried decking was stained inside the porch to match the composite decking outside.

The cathedral ceiling measures approximately 14 feet tall, and is designed to maximize natural light infiltration, enhancing the brightness inside the house.

DESIGN CHALLENGE

The main challenge for this project was the existing layout of the home’s exterior, which included a bay window that extended beyond the rest of the facade. The clients were looking for a design that allowed for the highest possible roof and interior ceiling.
